DESCRIPTION
International Women's Day 2004! Featuring: · The Renaissance Wimmins Drumming Circle is a group of diverse wimmin who love drumming. They experiment with a wide variety of drumming techniques. · Local Comedian, Gab Bonesso · Renaissance City Women’s Choir is a diverse group of women joining voices to support the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. · Pittsburgh Black Theater Dance Ensemble is a local African Dance troupe The Spanish Immersion Preschool, La Escuelita Arcoiris (The Little Rainbow School) will sing traditional children’s songs in Spanish. · Amarillis is a folk-baroque trio who plays lively, sweeping, bouncy, lush, plaintive, and romantic jigs, reels, tangos, hornpipes, and waltzes written anytime from 1651 (well, not the tangos) through yesterday. PLUS: Bid on great items in the Silent Auction. Sip on coffee from Kiva Han while sampling other great refreshments from Sree's, East End Food Co-op, Salim's Middle Eastern Foods and more. Watch films by independent women filmmakers or on women's issues. Join in discussions, networking and more. Visit local women vendors at the event including tarot readings by Isis, Herbal healing from Mother Moonbeam, books from The Big Idea Bookstore, jewelry making with Ariane Gresson and feminist sexual resources from Girls Night In. Bring shoes to donate to the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and their upcoming demonstration. The shoes will be given to shelters and thrift stores after their demonstration. $13 (comes with a Women's Resource Directory) $22 couple rate (bring a friend) $5 student/senior citizen/person in transition Proceeds benefit the collection, distribution and promotion of the Pittsburgh Women's Resource Directory and other projects of the Women's Resource Center Children's Activities and childcare provided. ....visit www.wrcpgh.org for updates...
