"Remembering Hiroshima-Imaging Peace" is a city wide remembrance of the human shadows burnt into the sidewalks of Hiroshima on August 6th 1945. Proponents of Universal Health Care & Single Payer Plans addressed the public with facts & figures of this endeavor, the urgent need for reform, & the feasibility of achieving it. Patient advocates, including nurses & physicians, spoke out against the abuses of the the Health Insurance Industry at the expense of quality care for patients. Satirical country singer Dana Lyons will bring the international campaign to stop the dams to 84 Lumber’s hometown with a concert at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the North Hills in Pittsburgh. On Wednesday, May 1 members of United Steelworkers Local 5032 and their supporters rallied outside Calgon Carbon’s (NYSE: CCC) annual shareholder’s meeting. Union members have been locked out of their jobs at the company’s Neville Island facility for just over two months. The company is demanded that union workers submit to massive cuts in healthcare and pensions before returning to work; locked out union members have stated that they are committed to winning a fair contract that preserves their pensions and keeps healthcare affordable.
