info on a october 25th demo at Pitt University.
4:00pm October 25th-Friday Demonstration Assemble by the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh.
Resist, Reform, Remake - Begin, Build, Create,
For Student Power! No to Corporate Control of the Universities! It's time to take back our schools. Bring the noise- The University has refused to
discuss or dialogue with us about ANYTHING related to student concerns at Pitt. We are therefore
taking it upon ourselves to pencil in a meeting with Chancellor Nordenberg. The current situation at Pitt is unacceptable. The University just raised 500 Million dollars, they are now aiming for a billion, they raised Chacellor Nordenbergs salary by ~18 thousand dollars (now $342,500), they passed a tuition hike of 14%, they plan to hike next years by 7%+, they are accelerating the Corporatization of the University, there's still not a living wage for campus workers, there's still no same sex health care benefits for employees, the police continue to harass activists on campus, they won't even return our emails, and students still have no real voice in the decision making process at our school.
