The support network and framework for this weekend's convergence helped the actions remain peaceful and successful.
The support network and framework for this weekend's convergence helped the actions remain peaceful and successful. Food Not Bombs provided free food (much of which was donated from local businesses, including the
East End Food Co-op) for hungry activists both at the St. Regis convergence center and at various other points: the porch of the Pitt student union, and the temporary Pgh IndyMedia space -- which ended up providing not just news, but lots of hot tea, too! The Cleveland IMC came out in full force as well.
Street medics followed both days' parades and breakaway marches, and the only reported injuries (2, at Sunday's rally before the march) were taken care of immediately. Peace marshalls effectively communicated to crowds when Sunday's permitted march was over and civil disobedience began; the marshalls and extremely polite police contributed greatly to the sum total of arrests for the entire convergence: ZERO!
