Snake march meets the die-in.
After the majority of participants in the die-in disbanded (initially between 80 and 100), three remaining activists huddled, "dead" under blankets and tarps on the street, surrounded by roughly 35 supporters. A call was put out for food and more blankets for the "dead" and shortly after an IMC reporter headed out to deliver tea and bread, the snake march came into sight on Fifth Avenue, with a long line of traffic backed up behind it. The crowd's flagging energy rose again, with cheers of "Go Black Bloc!" and "No Blood for Oil" as the march got closer.
The procession passed through the traffic blockade created by the police and rallied around chanting "whose streets? THEIR streets," pointing at the three remaining "dead." Shortly after, the police asked the die-in participants to clear the street, and helped the protesters off the ground, to much cheering and celebration by the crowd. No arrests were made! Police allowed the protesters to remain on the street to pick up litter and leftover signs, and everyone peacefully moved on.
