A brief report on the March/Rally sponsored by People Against Police Violence.
The rally/march was awsome. It began with a celebration of the life of Rob Penny at St. Benedictine the Moor Church. Some might have called it a funeral, but to me it was a celebration of a great life. Next we gathered across the street at Freedom Corner for a few speakers and a prayer from Reverend Nate Smith. Than the organizers announced the march route and we began the march. I would estimate there were about 250-300 at the peak. Chanting filled the air as we march down through downtown and to the city-county building. There we gathered for some additional speakers, including the father of Michael Ellerbee, who gave a moving speech about the taking of his young sons life. We concluded by marching back through downtown and back to Freedom Corner for an open mike session of poetry, spoken word, and announcements.
