“We’ve got a revolution on our hands- one side includes the powerful, political corporations, and the other side consists of poor blacks,” says Sakura Kone, media coordinator for Common Ground Relief. The plans to rebuild New Orleans are a little different than what was originally thought.

People criticized the slow response to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and now that same nonchalant response is being applied to the rebuilding of the low-income, predominantly African American parishes in New Orleans.

The Common ground Relief Organization is planning an alternative Spring break for college students called “The Second Freedom Rides.”
