4) This week's summary of under-reported news

Compiled by Bob Nixon

* In late November, final talks ended without a settlement between Serbia and the ethnic Albanian majority over the future of Kosovo's independence.
* Two nights of violent riots broke out in northern Paris suburbs after two North African teens were killed when their motorcycle collided with a police car.
* The current mortgage meltdown, caused by the subprime lending crisis, could push the American economy into a recession, as the number of foreclosure filings has doubled since last year. In RealAudio:

"Between The Lines" is a half-hour syndicated radio news magazine that each week features a summary of under-reported news stories and interviews with activists and journalists who offer progressive perspectives on international, national and regional political, economic and social issues. Because "Between The Lines" is independent of all publications, media networks or political parties, we are able to bring a diversity of voices to the airwaves generally ignored or marginalized by the major media.
