Daniel Pipes and New McCarthyism Come to Pittsburgh
by R. Workman Friday, Nov. 01, 2002 at 1:18 PM

Information on protest against Pipes and Campus Watch

Daniel Pipes, founder of Campus Watch, will be speaking at Carnegie Hall on Monday, Nov. 4, at 7pm.
At 6:30pm, members of the Pittsburgh community will gather outside to protest what is considered part of the "New McCarthyism."

Campus Watch is an organization devoted to compiling lists and databases of those who step out of line and criticize U.S. and Israeli foreign policy. It encourages students and faculty to report on professors who suggest that the U.S is also responsible for 9-11 and who question the U.S. drive to war.

The site itself describes the organization as those who are concerned with the denigration of U.S. interests on campus, and goes on to state that one of its concerns is the steady supply and low price of oil.

More than one hundred professors from across the country have asked Campus Watch to list their names in solidarity with the "accused" and Campus Watch has obliged them.
