as a resident of the city of pittsburgh i am thrilled that this city now has a voice on indymedia!!
pittsburgh, the city where officers kill an unarmed motorist stopped for being black (Gammage was stopped for tapping his brake lights), the girlfriend of the same officer (vojtas) is found to have died from a "self-inflicted" shot from the officers gun, and the officer is promoted.
pittsburgh, the city where a legal ethiopian immigrant , Getu Towolde, is beaten by police, force medicated without an evaluation, kept in solitary and denied legal representation for six weeks. reportedly for the "totality of the circumstances" ,despite the fact that the F.B.I. refused to press any charges.
pittsburgh, the city where....
i am so glad that there is a voice like indymedia
