Announcement of March & Rally on January 14, 2003

The independent public transit riders group Save Our Transit will march and rally one more time on Tuesday January 14, 2003. We want to send a message to the state law makers and the new governor before they begin the next session of the General Assembly. The message is simple and clear: WE DEMAND INCREASED FUNDING FOR OUR PUBLIC TRANSIT IN 2003. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE ANOTHER FARE HIKE OR ANY MORE SERVICE CUTS THIS YEAR!
Governor-elect Rendell has promised the many millions needed to finish the Mon-Fayette. He ain't said nothing yet however about public mass transit. HAS THE HIGHWAY LOBBY ALREADY BOUGHT OUT ED RENDELL? We will ask that question at the:
March & Rally on Tuesday, January 14th
Gather at 11:30 AM at Mellon Square (go up the steps at the corner of Smithfield St. and Oliver Ave.) for a march to the State Office Building at 300 Liberty Ave.
Will the march be noisy? YES Are we going to march past the corporatized Port Authority Executive Suites? OH YES!
Frankly, I am getting tired of marches and rallys. I would like to meet any bus/trolly riders who would like to turn up the heat a little. What would be a good response to another announced fare hike? The non-profit people and the lobbyists want us bus riders to just sit tight and follow their orders. This leaves me feeling rather cold. When do we take to the streets?
