Pittrsbugh Critical Mass is gaining momentum, come join in the fun!
A list serve has been started to unify and expand the growing Pittbsurgh Critical Mass community. Hopefully via this list we can do some planning for future rides and events along with meet those who we ride next to in the streets. If interested in Pittbsurgh Critical Mass, please join and add to the discussion.
To join simply send an email to: criticalmasspgh-subscribe@topica.com
You can choose to either receive every message posted to the list
individually or the digest version every day that messages are sent. Either
way, the messages will be preceded by [CriticalMassPgh] in the subject line
for easy sorting.
Upcoming Critical Mass events:
Ongoing: Flyering. We will be flyering the city heavily in coming weeks now
that spring has nearly sprung! If you wish to help out, join the list and
find out when we're heading out.
Ongoing: Website. The website at http://www.pghcriticalmass.org needs revamped.
Hopefully this will happen soon...
March Ride: We're planning on ending this one at the newly opened Project
1877 community space. If you haven't checked out the project yet, visit
http://www.1877.org for more information. We'll likely be partying down afterwards
with some food and drink for those who choose to imbibe.
April Ride: This is planned to be our big blow-out party! Once again, the
ride is planned to end at the Project 1877 community space. For April we
hope to have a band or three along with food/drink and a good time for
everyone.
Lets strengthen Critical Mass in Pittsburgh and show that the bicycle is a
viable mode of transport. All are welcome to join the list-serv and help in
the behind the scene's planning and decision making that is happening right
now. Or if you just want to join to see what's going on, feel free. No one
is to be excluded, so tell you friends!
Thanks everyone, I hope to see you at the next ride.

Critical Mass Update

Ah yes, a bit of a word on what Critical Mass is:
Critical Mass is what you make it. In cities the world over people gather on the last Friday of the month and ride their bikes through town in rush hour traffic. In its most simplistic form it is a celebration of the bicycle. Its a chance to feel safe on your bicycle in the streets as you get to ride surrounded by others. What toher chance do you have to ride your bike in a large group of riders just out having fun. We make sure the pace is that so anyone can keep up, we are in this for fun, not for speed. I promise that you will enjoy yourself on a Critical Mass ride... Come join the fun!

Critical Mass meets the last friday of every month outside of the Carnegie Library in Oakland (on Forbes) usually near the dinosaur. The meeting time is at 5:30, and the ride tries to leave soon after. If you're running late, we often head down fifth ave for a while.
Hey wearing costumes is cool too. I might go dressed as a car next ride.

=v= No! Don't come dressed as a car! To get the full effect, come dressed as a Chevron oil tanker named Condoleeza Ride!

Hey, this is great. You can f*ck up traffic and make people hate you even more! Now, THAT's effective! I might come dressed as a loser who has nothing better to do than to ride his bicycle down fifth avenue on a Friday evening with no apparent message or effect. Hey, but then I would look just like the rest of you!

How dare people ride bikes! on the street no less, where it's legally allowed! Oh I'm so indignant! This is america, not some commie bike riding country.
Just remember, all that energy you idiots waste riding bikes where you're legally allowed should be spent as a true american would spend it, watching tv and making assanine arguments on the interweb!
