when do we hit the streets??
by pjd Monday, Mar. 10, 2003 at 1:59 PM

So, is it your suggestion that on bomb-day, everyone should sit in classrooms all day attending teach-ins and workshops?

Don't you think the place for all of us on this date will be on the streets?

you're right.
by andy Monday, Mar. 10, 2003 at 2:20 PM

we'll just cancel all the educational workshops we've been working really hard to put together so everyone can hit the streets. really, who needs to learn more? and i mean, we can't take one day off from shouting slogans, can we? using several different tactics will only hurt us . . .

hey you all-

Student strike is good. The TMC-Pog endorsed etc plan is to gather at the federal building at 5:00pm for a rally and possible civil disobedience.

diversity of tactics everyone, diversity.

The workshops...
by pjd Monday, Mar. 10, 2003 at 6:03 PM

Are important, but they can be held anytime. To hold the workshops on bomb-day is like scheduling all-day sandbag-making classes for the day the next 100 year flood happens.

paul
by andy Monday, Mar. 10, 2003 at 7:20 PM

paul, i just want you to know that your comments consistently make me wish i had nothing to do with activism. there's absolutely no need to discourage people from doing what they want to do and what they can do to help resist this war.

i'm not saying we need to stop at workshops and teach-ins, i'm all about marches and direct action. this is also a good opportunity to convince fence-sitters to join us when we're out in the streets.

please stop discounting everyone's efforts to do what they can. it's terribly divisive, frustrating and counterproductive.

The problem is...
by pjd Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003 at 10:37 AM

that, until our numbers increase radically, "diversity of tactics" can end up being "dilution of message".

That's all.

technical problem...
by pjd Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003 at 10:57 AM

I get an error message "unable to create font "Narkism" and all the text is just dots.

that's what i hear. i guess i needed to embed the font but i didn't. if anyone needs flyers and can't print them out on their own computer email me and i can furnish 'em . . . arm58@pitt.edu . . . it's one of those weeks . . .

A gathering would be good
by Hami Friday, Mar. 14, 2003 at 5:09 PM

I think that we should have a place to gather at a certain maybe for an hour or so. I think the workshops are a great idea and a good way of convincing the public that the war is unjust. But I think if we show our presence in the form of numbers it would help attract people to the workshops.

yes.
by andy Friday, Mar. 14, 2003 at 6:54 PM

i very much agree. how do you think we should go about that? maybe the FNBers could get food together and we could have a picnic, inside or outside, a lunchtime. that would be rad. i'll see what they say to that. thanks for the input, can't wait to see you there!

workshops/fed building
by ben Wednesday, Mar. 19, 2003 at 3:15 PM

hi. i think the student strike is a cool event and much needed. i will attend but have one reservation. in my opinion the d.a. training will be one of the keystones of the day. however the 5pm rally at the fed building is also important to attend as well. how long will the da training take-i'd love to attend both the 4pm training and the 5pm rally. plus i think more people would take part in da if they had some training before hand.

hey ben

yeah, we've discussed that a little-- there is a training earlier in the day, but if you can't make that, i think the DA training at 4 will go on, but will be short. a good idea would be to contact pog: pog@mutualaid.org and ask them what's going on.
