this is not obvious on your homepage. I've been searching for information about the 3/21 rally and can't find any info. Please make this obvious. put it in big letters on your home page. Many people are interested in this 3/21 march but don't know about it.

Pleae try to keep this one PEACFUL, since it is a peace rally, right??
The one thing to remember going in:
IF YOU BREAK A CIVIL LAW (like destroying stuff, accosting bystanders, etc) YOU WILL BE ARRESTED, just like on any other day.
Disguising civil disobedience as a "peace rally" doesn't pass muster.

There has been a vigil/protest scheduled for _every_ friday for the past 3 weeks. The intent until now was for it to be a quiet affair.
Put it on your calender.
get your info at the Merton Center site.

"The intent until now was for it to be a quiet affair. "
So, why is it now determined that it SHOULDNT be a quiet affair???
Because you guys didn't get your way???
quiet?

Because things have changed since last week. We're at war now, and the missiles being dropped on Iraq aren't "a quiet affair." Kinda seems like we might need to raise our voices a bit in order to be heard over that din echoing in what Norman Solomon calls the "corporate media echo chamber!"
Peace.
Good point...

Well, I guess one could understand that.
Certainly, peace vigils and sitins will get less attention than an angry mob. So I can understand that theory....
But will an angry mob get the point across in the fashion you desire or do more harm for your image and message than good???
A march is fine....just dont trun it into a dangerous situation for yourselves and innocent bystanders.
I think that some folks on this board have good points and are responsible folks...but some of these hayseeds give activists REALLY bad names....With THOSE kinds of folks in your ranks, you ar not only fighting for your cause, but against an image problem...

In reading the name-calling, racism, sexism, homophobia, agism, and other disgusting comments made in the past few days, I would be more worried about the tarnished image of NON-protesters.
While demonsatrators have marched in the streets and disobeyed traffic laws (police report nothing has been damaged during these marches since January 26th), at least they are able to produce sound agruments. Many of thier adversaries have thouroughly embarrassed themselves with their posts. I miss reading journalism and facts, which Indymedia is known for globally.

Lets be sure to note that it was NOT ONLY "anti-protesters" who made off color comments,....
But I agree.....that sort of thing does nothing to the cause or argument of ANY group....
