Pittsburgh IMC statement on recent misleading posts

This is a statement issued by the Pittsburgh Indymedia collective with regard to recent misleading posts on this website.

Recently some users of the Pittsburgh IMC website have made allegations about the March 30 anti-war rally and march that are unsubstantiated and untrue, and are obviously aimed at creating a rift in the anti-war
movement. We, as the collective that administers the site, would like to remind everyone that while Indymedia is a good way of getting news out about what did happen, it is also a place where untrue claims can very easily be made and supported.

Please read this site carefully, and keep in mind that the mere fact that someone says they were at Point A at X hours does not mean they actually were. It is very easy for one person to pose as several people with several different perspectives and say the same thing.

No one who can prove that they were at the march has supported the claims, in public or private, that people keyed cars, or harrassed anyone on the sidewalk. It is just plain untrue. The claim that someone threw rocks was made by police, but has not been backed up by anyone else who was present at the march.
