For Pgh Indymedia: SO much is going on in Pgh these days. We need new ideas, tactics, and help. Already existing organizations are bombarded with work. Come see what we're about. Let us hear what you have to say. OPTICS
On Thursday, April 10th, at 1877 on Penn Ave, OPTICS (ORGANIZING PITTSBURGH TO INCREASE COMMUNITY SOLIDARITY) will have their first meeting to discuss tactics on building this peace movement.
OPTICS is endorsed by and members will be present on Thursday from: POG, Thomas Merton Center, Pgh Palestine Solidarity Committee, and the Radical Cheerleaders.
Come help us increase solidarity in Pittsburgh. Hear some music, eat some food, bring some snacks, chill, laugh, etc.

the time of the event is 7:00 pm on April 10th @ Project 1877.
The focus of this meeting is not to discuss tactics of protest. Although this topic is important and might be discussed in later OPTICS events, it is not our immediate goal. We hope that OPTICS gatherings will foster a spirit of community in the Pittsburgh Peace movement. Initially, our objective is getting everyone together to learn about the various activist groups and what they are doing in the community. The other objective is getting together to enjoy one another and engage in some serious (purposeful) fun and community building.
Hopefully these events will happen at least once a month. Let's make it happen!
There will be representatives from the listed organizations as well as a representative from Zi. Anyone is welcome to come to the event to discuss their group or do tabling.
Live music is also a possibility, but no promises yet.
I hope you all will be there.

first off OPTICS is a great idea. i think something (formal-or somewhat formal) like OPTICS is needed in pgh due to various pressures comming from outside the activist community and different opinions with-in.
if you guys would like some fun noisey type live music on the 10th my friends and i could come on over.
maybe if you dont want specific bands to play maybe peeps could bring noise makers or instruments and we could jam away. (i hope thats not too off the topic)

we will have about 1-2 hours of people speaking from the different groups endorsing the evnt, but please, bring your friends and place some music, before and after if you want. email me for more info.
