Organizations Demand Repeal of Santorum Degree

This Wednesday at noon, two student organizations, the Westminster College Green Party and Allies will be holding a joint press conference to address Senator Rick Santorums remarks about the Supreme Court case regarding a Texas sodomy law in an AP interview. If the supreme Court says that you have the right to consensual (gay) sex within your home, then you have the right to bigamy, you have the right to polygamy, you have the right to incest, you have the right to adultery. You have the right to anything, said Santorum.

The press conference will take place on Wednesday April 30th at noon in the quad area in the center of the Westminster College campus. During the press conference the chairs of both organizations will comment on the issue and demand the repeal of an honorary Doctorate of Law degree Senator Santorum received from the college in 1996.

An announcement will also be made about the May 1st Support Our Troops, Not Our Policy march and rally that was to be held in New Castle, in the wake of the citys refusal to provide an area for people to peacefully assemble after the city councils approval to be held on.

For more information, contact either Green Party chair Ken Jae at 724-946-6475 (jaekc@westminster.edu)Allies chair Sara Kimbell at 724-946-6780 (kimbelse@westminster.edu) or the events press coordinator, Isaac Ludwig.
