Why don't we have an event planned for mayday. For Pittsburgh Indymedia, local
Mayday, possibly the most important radical holiday in the world is about to be brushed over by Pittsburgh!
For the second year in a row, mayday has for some reason or another been more or less ignored. We have a large community of activists, and yet nothing for mayday.
What happened to the days of mayday rallies???
Remember Market Square a few years back?? Were we scared off after that one use of tear gas??
Yes, we're going to have the lockdown on Santorum, but we really should have a "good old fashioned" mayday rally! Rallies are a tradition and will be held all over the world, why not Pittsburgh?
I propose a last ditch MOBILIZATION for a mayday rally.
I think Oakland or Downtown would be good places, possibly sometime in the afternoon (maybe 3:30?)

It's our day, we should do something. Given our recent minor victories and equally minor catastrophies, It would nice to gather in the context of the greater struggle, not just the war, with comrades across the world.
I think Point State Park might be a good spot. There is enough space there that we probably won't beaten or arrested.
Any ideas?

Obviously, the RESYST demonstration in Santorum's office is going to be very big. It may in fact get national press considering how odious Santorum's comments have been.
There was a May Day march being discussed a while ago, but organizers decided to lay off to allow the New Castle and RESYST actions achieve better numbers, as well as prepare for something next year.
IMPORTANT: There will be a potluck hosted by members of the Big Idea, IWW, and POG to get to know groups and individuals who want to work on May Day 2004. Other groups affiliated are Roboto Project, Free Ride, People Against Police Violence, possibly AFL-CIO and others. Details are available below.
Potluck/bbq
6:00PM, May 1st,
519 S. Trenton Ave.
Wilkinsburg
(we have a grill for non-meat food preparation and everyone is welcome to the sink/stove/kitchen stuff).
Directions? 2 ways to get there - pick which one is easiest for you...
1. Trenton is off of Penn Ave. Take a right onto Trenton at the "Welcome to Wilkinsburg" sign (there is a traffic light at this intersection). Go to the last block on Trenton (you may see an old faded "No outlet" sign). We are on the left. There is an ugly, green
chainlink fence around the house.
2. Go up Forbes past Braddock. The road (Forbes Ext.) veers to the right [if you are walking or biking you don't have to veer]. At the stop sign, make a left onto Peebles Ave. After the stop sign make a right onto Chestnut St. (sort of an alleyway). Stay on Chestnut until you can't go anymore - that is Trenton Ave. When
you stop at the stop sign you will see our house cross from you. Same description as above.
