On Friday, May 16, at 7:30 PM, District 1199P/SEIU will be hosting a talk on the second floor of Mahoney's restaurant at 949 Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh, by two members of the union who recently returned from a union delegation to Colombia.

Colombia is one of the most deadly places on earth, and it's by far the most dangerous place for trade unionists -- about 2 out of 3 trade unionists killed for their union activity worldwide are killed in Colombia alone. They are hospital workers, public utility workers, workers for gigantic transnationals like Coca-Cola, agricultural workers and others.

Speakers at Friday night's event will include:

* Kevin Hefty, District 1199P/SEIU Nursing Home Team coordinator; and

* Cathy Stoddart, registered nurse at Allegheny General Hospital and rank-and-file member of the District 1199P/SEIU Executive Board.

The two also have an album of photographs from the trip, many of them quite dramatic.
