Mayday Fashion Show! A Smashin Success
by The Radical Fringe Element Monday, May. 19, 2003 at 11:58 PM

The signs said walk. We sashayd.

Our valley has been cloudy for many moons, but for Mayday in the year two thousand and tree, the darkness turned to light. It was one of those days that you just cant believe the U.S. government truly carries out their egregious behavior. And so, a jaunty team of merry mayday celebrators congregated at the concrete park on the corner of Liberty and 7th Street. Before they set out to upset the current state of fascism with their hot looks, a newsie distributed anarchist propaganda to some locals lounging in the park. Upon receiving the latest issue of Subtext, one of Pittsburghs finest newspapers, a man remarked, Why, that seems Union friendly. He then went on to tell us about a Mayday celebration he had attended earlier that day. Workers of the new convention center got together and made a bell out of the platform that their comrade had fell to his death from. The ceremony included ringing the bell for all the workers who had died in the line of duty that year. (I dont know the whole story so if someone knows more about what these workers did please post)
The sleek divas succeeded in their goal of transforming the crosswalks into catwalks. Fine citizens glared awestruck, waiting for the models to saunter across the street. In addition to the photographer and their own Fashion Police, the Pittsburgh police force decided to accompany the suave runway felines. A blue, ruffled skirt and a gas mask contrasted with the pork barreled bellies that chose to cast a baleful eye upon us.
The spectacle culminated in an orgiastic display of high anarcho-fashion. A bastion of union organizers and cancer survivors feasted on the spicy little Salomes. The jolly ooglers were dazzled by juggling, poi spinning, yoga head standing, folk song singing, and radical cheerleading. The armed guards in their metal cop shop finally left the stake out with a wave and a friendly toot.
The pillars of capatilism may not have felt but a slight tremor, but the fashion world is still dealing with the aftershocks.
