Information for interested readers: Pittsburgh City Council has preliminarily rejected a resolution that would authorize an independent review of Pittsburgh Police SWAT policies and procedures by the National Tactical Officers Association, facilitated by the CPRB. In March 2002 the original legislation was passed but the City Administration refused to do it.

Council will meet in a closed door session with the administration before the final vote BUT you can express your opinion to City Council next Tuesday, 5/27/03, 10:00 a.m. in Chambers, 5th Floor, City County Building.

If you think an independent review of SWAT practices in Pittsburgh is necessary for citizen and officer safety and public confidence in police, let Council know that on Tuesday. ...and If you don't think it's necessary, you should tell them that too.
