protest rendell
Gov. Ed Rendell continues working and said he's prepared to cancel his vacation to craft a budget compromise.
But he did take time out of his schedule last week to broker a hoagie deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, ensuring that fans who attend football games at the new Lincoln Financial Field can carry their cheese steaks into the games.
[from today's Post-Gazette]
WHAT: Protest PA’s Abominable Governor, Ed Rendell, when he comes to Pittsburgh
WHEN: 5:30 pm, Wednesday, Aug. 6
WHERE: The University Club of Pittsburgh, 123 University Place (see map)
WHY:
WHO: This call brought to you by
Stephen Donahue (Save our Transit)

I came to protest the double dealing Philadelphia lawyer Noodles Rendell, and no one showed! You people need better organizational skills.
Noodles Rendell sent a budget that he wrote to the Pa Legislature, who passed it WITHOUT ONE SINGLE AMENDMENT or MODIFICATION. Then the four flusher refused to sign his own damned budget!
Talk about bad faith! Rendell expects the Post Gazette and others to mobilize popular sentiment behind tax increases and green lighting the gaming gangster's expansion of their business into legal venues. Rendell is truly abominable, a living paradigm of what is wrong with the Democrat party, with his judge wife and blatant quid pro quo refunding of campaign contributions to his financial backers. See which constituencies flourish under Noodle's "Amended" budget- only those who supported him with money. I invite anyone to explain to me how increasing teacher's pensions will improve education. If we give Casey Jones more pension, will the Glendale train run on time?

actually there were about 65 people there from a number of groups. It was directly in front of the University Club (which is a half block from where people met, but you should have been able to see them from 5th)

Just saw this bozo being interviewed by msnbc, prior to his hosting a democratic party candidates debate, interviewer Bill Press. 8/11/03
This a-hole said that Bush is very popular and no democrat if the race were held today would defeat him.
What a complete jacka$$.
I guess the economy and employment in PA are just doing fine and none of the 11 plus million people unemployed live in Pa, and the economy is just doing swell there.
I guess none of the US solders in Iraq now with target signs on their back are from PA either.
I supposse Rendell agrees with the more arrogant than can be believed Bush policy, that the UN is irrelevant unless it does exactly what Bush wants, and he must have agreed with the rush to war in Iraq and all of the lies the Bush admin told the pulbic about the immediate need to go to war (Carlye Group war profiteers (Bush family) and Haliburton Oil (Cheney $1M/year "retirement")) had NOTHING to do with it. Solders still dying in Afghanistan and all the Us bases in the region just happen to be perfectly lined up with the propossed oil/gas piple line bush/Cheney negotiated with the Talibahn about when they decided to ignore Clinton's plans to go after OBL.
What a fu*king a$$hole, Rendell is a Democrat????

There is an epidemic in pa taking the lives of our youths at alarming rates. It is the use of lethal force by those that took an oath to, serve and protect. It tears to the very root of our communities!I have knowledge of the degrees of force, including lethal and really can not believe that these cases are found to be "justifiable
cause".The cover ups, lies, and the most outlandish, is
the killing of 12 yr old micheal ellerbe.Justice is demanded!we were founded on, "we the people, for the people, by the people" what is happing? Are we conditioned to it?We, need to be heard. It can be stopped.one voice shouting alone, will not be heard. But, many voices shouting will!Gov. Rendell has
no right to be in office!!!! Nothing is being done....why?
I think that the people agianst police violence, is a blessing.Mrs.wilson,of pittsburg,pa....is fighting strong!
if these issues are not addressed, there will be more deaths.
Michael Ellerbe

It is tragic what happened to Michael Ellerbe, but one has to ask why a 12 year-old was out stealing cars at 2 in the morning? I think that cops can't be trusted all that much, but at the same time, I think that when you hear the facts in the case, the cops were trying to save their own necks. Why aren't the circumstances mentioned above in the Elerbe case ever addressed?
ur misinformed

The Question is, why was there a cover up? How could a trained police officer mistake the size of michelle( uner 5 ft and 90 pds) as a grown man. You only heard one side. and not even the truth. i lived in uniontown......just needs to be served for the "murder" of michelle ellerbe
