August 24 call to action: Stop the war and occupation!
by carny love Thursday, Aug. 07, 2003 at 2:27 PM

Against the war! The Pittsburgh Organizing Group [POG] has put out a call for a demonstration against war on August 24th and wed like all creative folks to join them. We will assemble at 2:00pm at Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park. The rally will be preceded by a 1:00pm picnic against poverty and followed by a MARCH.

Creativity uber alles!

Come all ye faithful! We need you: artists and poets, singers and songwriters, freaks and geeks, revelers and ravers, skateboarders and rollerblade aficionados, office workers and students, punks and carnies, housewives and daydreamers.

Whatever label has been thrust upon you, whatever label youve embraced. The warmongers have rained death and destruction upon the people of Iraq. Every day is filled with another headline of the politicians lies, the corporate plunder, the growing body counts, and the weeping loved ones.

The war is from over and yet we remain silent. The time has come to take our voice back to the streets. On March 20th we saw the ugly fist of state power remove itself from the velvet glove. Weve paid our fines, done our time, and now we need to take it back to the street.

We will be there with our instruments of musical merriment, our rage at injustice, and our joy of collective resistance. The rest is up to you. This movement must continue to incorporate more and more creative elements into our actions. The decision of how to resist is up to you! No steering committees and no leaders. Form a contingent and bring what youve got. Flags, bubbles, kites, bikes, tricycles, masks, goggles, poems, literature, and more is requested at this gathering. Take back what the system has stolen from you- the freedom to be who you are and the freedom to shape the society youre a part of.

We are calling for a cacophony of diversity to reshape the world. We welcome you to join us and the possibilities are endless

Stop the war and occupation. Whatever happens on the streets, NO REGRETS!

Resistance is fertile,
Creative Carnies for change!

Brave new world Fighter:
That video of the pentagon crash looks fake to me. But what do I know? I just know that 9-11 was a freakin' circus act, in order to impart on the people of the world a certain Stimulus-Response reaction. I think it has worked for the sheep of the world.
It seems there are spies on Indymedia.
ALL BLACK SHEEP COME OUT AND RALLY AGAINST THE OPPRESSIVENESS OF THOSE IN POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

creativity & attendance
by anti-imperialist Friday, Aug. 08, 2003 at 9:52 AM

Both creativity and attendance are the two most important points of resistance right now. The "No Blood for Oil" slogan has gotten old. People think the ant-war movement has died. It hasn't, but tactics need to change. It is important to attend, but we need to do more than attend. The march @ the end of January in a blinding snowstorm in Oakland was awesome. Those who were in attendance then need to be in attendance on A24. There are many more folks speaking out against the occupation of Iraq now. GET THEM TO SHOW UP. We need a show of unity between all groups: peacniks, anarchists, those un-affiliated with any group, green party, TMC, POG - everyone here knows what I mean. Take the time to alert our friends in Cleveland, Akron, West Virginia and all other neighbors. Start planning your resistance today so we can make August 24 a large event.

Those citizens with the "Stop Bitching - Start a Revolution" stickers have got it right. Anyone who has a problem with the current administration needs to come out and voice their dissent. Complaining in a local watering hole is not good enough, complaiing behind closed doors is not gonna cut it. See you on the 24th.

AI- I think that is the hope.

POG is never going to do it alone, but united the movement can move mountains.

Permitted?

Is the march going to be permitted or unpermitted? I am assuming that we don't need a permit to assemble at Flagstaff.

Is the movement's momentum returning?

These posts look very hopeful. I suspect that many TMC members will be involved in the event, both promoting and attending.

good opp.

This looks like a good opportunity to tie the local financial meltdown to the cost of the war.

The government is spending 4billion a month on the war and more then 400billion a year on the pentagon.
There is a direct correlation between those costs and the passing of costs to the states which has in turned reduced aid to the cities.

Call for anarchist attendance
by johnRPGH Saturday, Aug. 09, 2003 at 2:26 PM

Radicalize Pittsburgh is putting out a call for a large anarchist show of resistance against the occupation of Iraq!

Self-Government is the key to peace and freedom. We are an active part of the anti-war movement, and we must take to the streets and show that we are still here. We will not sit by idly and let the imperialist war machine occupy and imprison Iraq. There must be a demonstration of the power of our movement, and we must remember there is strength in numbers. We have a duty to demonstrate against Bush and his war-mongering oil-drenched bloody administration. Remember the passion with which we fought against tyranny and shut down the WTO in Seattle, when we took to the streets on January 26th, when our Greek sisters and brothers march in the streets of Athens to free their prisoners. We must not let the fire die out with the passing of "major combat operations" in Iraq. The war is NOT over. Iraqi soldiers, American soldiers, and Iraqi AND American civilians are dying in Iraq. American soldiers are firing into unarmed crowds demonstrating against our occupation. We cannot let their deaths be in vain! Bring your bucket drums and your black flags, and don't expect the police to be cooperative. If one of our comrades is arrested, we must release him. If the police attack us, we must defend ourselves. Remember there is strength in numbers. I'll see you on the streets.

August 24th, 2003. 2:00pm on Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park.
