The Pittsburgh IMC presents an evening lecture on media and politics as part of a weekend of activities highlighting the IMC that will include workshops and an open house.

Thursday, August 14, 8:00 pm
Frick Fine Arts Auditorium, University of Pittsburgh.
Free and open to the public.

Prof. Jonathan Sterne (UPitt, Communications) will deliver a lecture on Thursday as part of a weekend highlighting the Pittsburgh Independent Media Center. Sterne is active on the editorial board of "Bad Subjects: Political Education for Everyday Life," a political e-zine and one of oldest continuously-running publications on the internet. This spring Duke University Press published his book, "The Audible Past: Cultural Origins of Sound Reproduction." In addition to Sterne's lecture, members of the Pittsburgh Independent Media Center will make short presentations about bias and inaccuracy in local coverage of the war, intensifying media consolidation and cross-ownership, and how activists across the country are working to resist the corporate media and the new FCC media-giveaway."
