petition to impeach mayor murphy
For those of you not already aware there have been demonstrations at the city county building downtown(off of grantstreet next to the courthouse(castle looking building)) to impeach mayor murphy almost everyday this week. There is a petition down there to sign to get Murphy impeached. They need 20 pages, they've got about 10 now. If your pissed about rec centers and pools being closed or the 700 families that are now dealing with unemployment because of the budget cuts come down and sign the petition. Support the laid off EMTs and Rec Center Works and get that Republicrat out of office!

He did take 102 violent, armed thugs off the streets. Enjoy your early retirement. Do you still get your drug bribe money if you are a retired cop?

Shit flows downhill. The federal government chokes out the states and it just trickles down to local government. Maybe this should be an awakening for the local Bush supporters, Republicans and conservatives who are now calling for Murphy's head. Connect the problems locally to those internationally. Are you folks demanding a Murphy impeachment ready to demand a BUSH IMPEACHMENT???? Maybe the outcry ought to be: we spend 4 billion dollars a month on the unjust occupation of Iraq and locally we cannot even keep our city pools open. HOW ABOUT THAT? Is it sinking in yet?
I enjoyed the comment about does a retired cop still get his bribe money. How do you incorporate that into a retirement package? I sleep better knowing those armed thugs are off the street. Take a bite out of crime. Maybe those signs should read: SAVE OUR PLANET instead of SAVE OUR POLICE

They should have chosen to do something useful with their lives.
There are lots of legitimate collection agency jobs that don't require you to kill people, just call and annoy them.

Contrary to popular belief there are decent cops out there, very few, but there are some. There are also some very indecent factory workers out there, but does this mean they don't need to have jobs also? The employment rate has dropped 5% since Bush has been in office, and now Murphy has added 700 or so more to this problem. This isn't an issue about wether they're cops or not, this is an issue about people losing their jobs. There's too many middle class white college kids on the left who've never suffered any hardships and probably never put in a hard days work in there life who are to quick to say that a persons livelyhood is useless and they deserve to loose it. These layoffs don't just affect the individual cop but also there families, having grown up in a household plaqued by a constantly unemployed single parent, I don't wish this on anyone, especialy when being done by the hands of the state for the sake of saving some money. Your to quick to look at this as them being cops, fuck that, these are people. These are people who have to worry about paying their bills and feeding there kids everyday just like you and me. Untill you learn to quit embracing these barriers between yourself and others, your never going to see any change, you'll just continue to be a worthless cliche who'll never change a damn thing.

There is no comparing factory workers to policemen. A factory worker is my equal, as I'm not college material. A policeman however is not my equal, which is why there is no sense in trying to reason with them. If a factory worker shoots me or beats me to death, safe money says that he will go to prison. The cop will most likely be put on temporary paid leave.
Boohoo, my childhood was a Bruce Springsteen song, too. While we are lamenting the damage to families, imagine the number of young males these cops you are defending put into the prison-industrial complex which is nothing more than legal slavery. They have jobs, granted they pay 80 cents an hour, but the inmates build circuit boards and handle customer service. Maybe the unemployed cops could take one of those jobs.
Police exist to protect the interests of the bosses. They don't prevent crime, they react to it, if not actively participate in it.
Do you think impeaching and electing someone different will fix these problems?
I'd pass out before I got that drunk.

A worker is a worker, better yet lets just say, a person is a person. These are people who are losing their jobs. Wether you feel their job is valid or not is of no importance as your qualms seam to be more with the system they are working within, so lets work to destroy that system, not those people in that system. You want to change the laws, you want to change how things work, get out and do it, but don't make people suffer because they're doing what they got to do to survive. I support drug dealers because they're doing what they got to do, and I support cops cause they're doing what they've got to do. It's the system we have to change.
How are you any better then these people to wish ill fate upon them? Your hatred is not the solution to anything, it's merely a reactionary stance. Its those same reactionary ideals that have kept this system alive and fucking us over for years because instead of reaching out in love you choose to turn to hate. You choose to hold grudges, you choose to judge. Your hatred of police isn't solving a damn thing.
I was harrassed by cops on March 20th, I was kicked around, I was called horrible names, I spent 22 1/2 hours in jail for blocking a fucking sidewalk, but I wish no ill harm on those cops. How can I be a better person if I sink down to their level? Ghandhi said "You have to be the change you wish to see in the world". Do you wish to see peace? Do you wish to see love? Do you wish to see equality? If so, you need to drop that attitude and be that change. Stop hating and start uniting.

I am a poor worker, not a college student... And I'd rather be living in a shack than be a cop. Fire all cops. Cops are only there to control you. The world would be such a lovely place without cops. Stop sucking cock, cops suck END OF STORY!.

I hate to sound like people like Prodigal Yunzer or any of the other right wing lurkers but I have to say, you've swallowed way to many of the left wing ideologies without making any tempt at applying intelegent thought to them. You think cops aren't poor workers too? You think there aren't cops out there who took their job because they wanted to make a difference?
I'm sure if a situation arose where cops were neccesary you would call. I'm sure that if you were being held up at gunpoint and a cop came and helped you, you'd also be grateful.
Or maybe not, maybe your realy as idiotic as you sound and you'd spit in the cops face for helping you. I'm sure if you had a daughter who was kidnaped by some pedophiliac and a cop managed to track her down before some sick pervert could get his dick in her you'd also tell him to fuck off.
I've met cops that were assholes, and I've met cops that have fucked me over severly. I've had friends recieve warnings from cops for serious shit. I'm talking about shit that would get them in jail for 5-10 easily. I've got friends that are taking criminal justice classes right now to become cops that I used to smoke pot with in high school. These are guys that I know aren't going to be asshole cops, and I definatly wouldn't want to see him loose his job because a mayor would rather invest his money in construction work.
One of the most important lessons I was taught in life was to respect anyone who works for a living. Be it a janitor or a cop.
I was also taught to love my enemies. Maybe I'm just a dumb ass for believing these things, and maybe I should go and register republican. Who knows......

Cops aren't poor. The FOP makes sure of it.
While cops are workers in a sense, they're different from most workers in that their role is reactionary, rather than progressive.
In the class war, cops are frontline soldiers of the bourgeoisie. Their job is to enforce the laws of a state that exists for the sole purpose of maintaining the status quo.
This isn't about whether cops are nice guys or not; that's irrelevant. Any cop who does hir job the way s/he's supposed to is a bad cop.
more and more cops

If a cop does their job the way they're supposed too, they're just doing their job. Change those laws, don't penalize the cops for it. Believe it or not there's many cops out there who don't do their job the way they're supposed too. I've been let off in situations where the state could have made a shitload of money off me.
I once again restate my belief that when it comes down to it at the end of the day, a cop is still a person, and that person doesn't need to just suddenly loose their job becaue our mayor has $80 million stashed away to invest in construction on Forbes rather then to pay their salaries.
Ya'll cats seriously need to loose this hatred you got for other people, cause your keep yelling about the class war and your enemies and all your going to do is produce more struggle between yourselves and others when what you really need to be doing is go out and struggle to help some body instead of just shouting out rhetoric that doesn't mean shit to anyone.
Compare a group like Refuse and Exist to a group like Positive Force in DC, which organization has done more effective? People are scared of Refuse and Exist, but I tell you what, elderly people in DC love getting their free groceries delivered by the cats in Positive Force.
You can keep dividing yourselves, I'm gonna go work for revolution.

Yes, Murphy should go. His neo-liberal vision for our city stinks. And while were at it let's get rid of Gov. Rendell also. Impeaching politicians however might be the easy part. The hard part if fighting this entire system of neo-liberal policy that has been killing the poor all over the world for years. There is a war on all things public. Don't kid yourselves, the big shots want to contract out our EMS. Public transit has been under attack for several years now by both republicans and democrats. Go study the PGH 21 Report--it is all about privatizing and implementing fees for public services. It is about downsizing, cutting, layoffs, undermining pension plans and the collective bargaining process. It is all about forcing us to learn to make do with less. Murphy did not invent this crap. he is just a faithful follower. The big wall street banks say, "privatize the trash pickup or your bond rating won't be worth chicken shit." State Sen. Logan says increase the city wage tax or we will let the city starve. This is just the start!
So revolution? You bet! But impeachments do not a revolution make.

cops don't know no better, most don't know no better, my whole family is on anti depressants and they put my nephews on ritalin. between publik skool and mass media can u really blame these zombies. the best way to wake people up is the documentary '911-the road to tyranny'. multiple websites have free downloads -do a search. it has video of cops and feds goin into skools draggin kids out, to make them safe, cys in texas goes into a skool and kidnaps half the kids, there's video of oklahoma attack and all the stations report and confirm multiple bombs IN the building, ATF was tipped off, john doe #2 is identified, video of fema concentration camps -it gets worse. Show the idiots-either wake em up or laugh at em for bein idiots. INFOWARS.COM

to be true, the photos speak for themselves.

Protestors who march in rank and file?
Where have you been? Those people who march are not marching like soldiers. They are in the streets asserting the independent power of the PEOPLE! Not an SS soldier or a brainwashed cop. They are the most free thinking, free spirited, independent people you can ever meet. The purposes for being in a protest is as individual as the people themselves.
Why don't you start a conversation with one or two? You'll find that you will find some of the best people to know.
Armed Cash Registers For the State
by Prodigal Yunzer

Protectors of state property. Bodyguards to the elected gangsters who spit in our faces. Tax eating stooges for the Man. Thats what cops are.
You want to get some interesting conversation, get friendly with a cop. Hard to do since the war on drugs/porno/left handedeness made cops our enemies since we are all lawbreakers in some way. Maybe one will move next door to you, and you can listen to them getting loaded and talking their crap.
Try going somewhere with your cop friend in a social situation and see what happens. Some guy who failed to appear for a $15 ticket for not displaying a dive flag in his boat will get in his face about how they waited until Thursday to arrest him at work cause that keeps him in jail for the weekend ( more $$) and the cop will just mutter about "justifying the job". But they can't. They can't justify their empire of messing with non dangerous people for fun and profit while driving by the actual criminals who might fight back and cause the powdered sugar to fall off their donut.
Firefighters are heros, and on 9/11 I salute their bravery and sacrifice. Cops stood outside Columbine HS because their boss didn't care how many children got killed in there as long as he didn't have to pay premium increases in his county disability policy for any wounded deputies. They stood out there for over an hour.
