"Pittsburgh's 'Visionaries' Need An Eye Exam," says Save Our Transit

Come One Come All!

Save Our Transit is having a "Let Them Eat Cake Party" at 6PM at Penn Ave. and 10th Street downtown. Wear a costume if you want. There will also be drumming, whistles, fun & cake of course.

Members of the bus/trolley riders group Save Our Transit will gather with others angered by recent funding cuts for public services outside the new $375 million D.L. Lawrence Convention Center at 6PM on Saturday evening, September 20 at the corner of Penn Ave and 10th Street. There they will greet party goers attending the $500 per ticket POWER PLAY to celebrate the convention centers grand re-opening. Power Play organizers will be honoring Visionaries who are shaping the region. These visionaries include former Governors Thomas Ridge and Mark Schweiker as well as present Governor Edward Rendell, Mayor Thomas Murphy and County Executive James Roddey.

Save Our Transit will hold a news conference to kick off a LET THEM EAT CAKE party at 6PM, Saturday September 20 at the corner of Penn Ave and 10th Street outside the convention center. Save Our Transit members will be suggesting that given the ongoing demise of public services and the rapid deterioration of the quality of life for many, especially low income and poor citizens in the region that it is time for our visionaries to go get an eye exam.

The Let Them Eat Cake Party will feature costumes, drumming and will be a light hearted critique of Power Play. Save Our Transit members will however be demanding from all the Power Play party goers, those whom Power Play organizes call the old guard, the new guard and the avant garde a city and state that works for everybody not just the luminaries.
