Is it a protest? Is it a party? Is it both? It's Whatever we make it and YOU are invited! 6PM Saturday, September 20, 6PM-ish, Penn Ave. at 10th Street.
Come on down to the brand new D. L. Lawrence Convention Center on Saturday evening at 6PM. Save Our Transit is having a "Let Them Eat Cake" Party there at the corner of Penn Ave. and 10th Street. We will have costumes, drumming, and of course cake.
WHY THE PARTY? Because on that night the movers, the shakers and the rule makers of this region (they call themselves "visionaries" & "luminaries") are holding a self-congratulating party to celebrate their accomplishments including the completion of the $375 million D. L. Lawrence Convention Center built with our tax dollars. They are calling their party a "POWER PLAY" and while the "old guard" and the "new guard" (their words not Freddie's) are slapping each other on the back and making deals the ordinary folks around here are getting screwed!
"What, the people dare to complain about cuts in public transit?" "Let them eat cake." "What the children have no recreation centers?" "Let them eat cake." "What, Governor Rendell cut $4 billion from public schools?" "Let the kiddies eat cake." "What the lowly people resent the cuts in all their public services?" "Why those lazy spoiled little no goods, let them eat cake." AND SO WE WILL!
Freddie says come on down and eat cake, bang on a bucket, put on a costume and see all the rich people going into their party, oh yes but they will have to see us too. He might even splurge for some Philly Blunts.
(The Let Them Eat Cake Party will commence after a news conference at 6PM. We have a POSITIVE message for the evening. We POSITIVELY demand a city and state that works for everybody, not just for the Power Players.)
