Medical support of civilian war victims is an important issue, but, sadly, it often forgotten or "avoided" by the media. The humanitarian group Emergency has been at the forefront of supporting victims of war casulties since 1995. Emergency's founder, Dr. Gino Strada, will be visiting a few US cities and give invited talks about his organization's activities in war-ridden countries.

Here are the details of the lecture at GSPH:

Dr. Strada schedule in Pittsburgh includes interviews with city newpapers, like the Pittsburgh Gazette and CMU's The Tartan. The event should also be covered by a couple of TV stations (to be confirmed).

The Pittsburgh visit is part of a series of talks Dr. Strada will give in US.

DemocracyNow! Radio and TV on Friday Jan 16th aired from New York a live inteview with Dr. Strada. The transcript of the interview is available here.

His itinerary for the next few days is the following:

Taking care of civilian war victims is an important issue, but, sadly, it often forgotten or "avoided" by the media. All too often the so-called "liberation wars" leave a trail of pain and suffering behind, but the press or TV rarely spend more than a few words on it.
