Bill Fletcher is the former Education Director of the AFL-CIO and a longtime labor activist. He is currently the president of the TransAfrica Forum, a leading African-American foreign policy organization. He will give the keynote for a panel discussion on "U.S. Foreign Policy Since 9/11."

Three speakers will follow for 7-10 minutes each, with "case studies" of hot spots around the world:

-- Dennis Brutus, noted poet and former South African political prisoner, will speak on Africa and also on the growth of global resistance as exemplified by the World Social Forum.

-- Cathy Stoddart is a registered nurse at Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side. She is an executive board member of her union, District 1199P/SEIU, and last year participated in a labor delegation to Colombia. She will speak on the conditions in that country, which receives the largest share of US military aid of any country in the Western Hemisphere, and which also murders more trade unionists annually than all other countries in the world combined.

-- Kate Daher is a local teacher and an active member of Pittsburgh's Palestine Solidarity Committee. As the US occupies Iraq, the Israeli occupation of Palestine becomes even more harsh, particularly with the building of the so-called "security fence."

There will be time for discussion afterwards and plenty of "what you can do" material.

The event will be held Saturday, April 3, at 3:00 PM at Monumental Baptist Church, 2240 Wylie Avenue, in the Hill District. It is sponsored by the Black Radical Congress. Call Sanjulo Ber at 412-969-1466 for more information. A flyer is attached.
