arrest on beelen
Following the march 19th ploice raids on Beelen St....
the pittsburgh city paper published an article entitled police and punks about the raid march 19th police raid on the house at the end of beelen street known as "the end".
Police returned on friday the26th(?) 2 days after the article was published saying that the owner read the article and then asked the police to evict the house....however after one of the residents talked to the owner it seemed as though the police contacted the owner and got and riled her up about liabilty issues ect-basicly pressuring her into giving an ok to evict the house...
the police statements were an obvious attempt to cut beelen off from having a public voice through the media- the police want to continue to operate here out of the public eye without leagl scrutiny....
after the march 26th warning residents left the house- yesterday march 31 someone returned- was arrested and remains in police custody.
the police efforts to protect and serve have now:
1. made at least 4 people homeless,
2.wasted city funds on increasing the homeless population of the city
3. increased the liklihood of the house on the end of beelen into turning into crack house or shooting gallery- like it was last year befor the current residents moved in
4.allowed for usuable housing to continue to rot because now no one will maintain it.
with police lay offs and cut backs you would think more resources would be devoted to crime that destroys neighborhoods.. instead the police are directing their efforts into disrupting a community- and decreasing the safety of everyone who lives on beelen. and no one on the street considers "the end" a threat toi their well being no one has complained in fact everyone likes having the current ex residents on the street- the police have taken this initiative on their own without considering what their job is supposed to be- they are not "protecting and serving" anyone who lives on beelen. they are occupying and oppressing beelen.
sorry..

its a shame to hear this. of all the crime that goes on in the hill district, they are directing this much attention to people that are causing no problem at all.
and you arnt being told the whole truth about the city lay offs. most police that got laid off now have their jobs back, while all the workers from all the other departments pretty much have no chance of getting back their jobs.
For a city that is on the verge of bankruptcy, maybe the citizens should be looking into where money is being spent. I can think of a lot better uses for our tax dollars than kicking out a few people living in an abandoned house.
dont let them take your house away that easy, and there are other people in the city that stand behind you
Haha hoboes

It's people like you and your parents who left these houses to foall in to dilapitdatied conditins in the first place. When the Civil Rights movements of the 60's and 70's was happening, you could feel the love in the revolution, so you moved off to isolate youself and pump unleaded into your new Dodge Chrysler. you habits of consumption make me sick.
You strnagle the earth with toxic fumes from your commute lifestyle. You eat processed prepackaged food loaded with preservatives that makes you bloat over into open heart surgery, or something similarly painful. And then you have the audacity to laugh at people for trying to live in a simplified way.
Where one can actually fix what is not broken. Rescusitating the life of a dying city? one house at a time. Cranberry and I say FUCK YOU. Move back into the city, be my neighbor and let's work toegether to grow organic food in a community garden. Are you ready to heal Pittsburgh?
I think that the medics who lived on Beelen are. Did you know that on 9.11.01, it was street medics who showed up at hospitals and taught people how to do basic decontamination. But they don't empower you through the corporate media, they just want you to watch the ads and worry that you not buying the right stuff to be happy.
You can be the fish who saved Pittsburgh. NO NEW ARENA MARIO!!!
