Although these words were written 3,000 years ago, David and Solomon are speaking to us today.
Exactly what crimes have Bradley Manning and Julian Assange committed? They're not accused of murder or racketeering. They didn't act out of greed or hatred.
They don't face the prospect of spending the rest of their lives in jail for these things; rather, theirs is a crime of revealing the truth in a world grown accustomed to darkness.
In serving the God of truth they've angered the god of empire.
We all must stand in their defense, for a culture of truth, democracy, and human rights.
We've put together a petition in defense of Julian Assange and WikiLeaks. Lots of folks have signed on, including Daniel Ellsberg, Noam Chomsky, Naomi Wolf, etc.
