Fellow citizens, we have been tricked. All the smoking guns are hidden, in plain sight.

"for Pittsburgh Indymedia because I'm from Pittsburgh"

I haven't believed much that my government tells me since Vietnam, and it took ME almost a year and a half after September 11 to suddenly get it.

It's been a long, dreary spring and summer for this citizen. My beloved country truly has been taken over, by our own.

I've been like Cleopatra, De Queen of De Nial.

All the smoking guns I've tried to explain away to myself! The stolen presidential election-cum-appointment of 2000. The return from Iran-Contra's slimy depths of Cheney, Ashcroft, Wolfowitz, Perle, Rumsfeld, et al. The eerie silence of "the news media" about all things controversial and its galling show of red-white-and-blue panties as it cheer-led the mighty United States of America off onto wars of conquest. The declarations of presidential edicts.

I'd shrieked "coup d'etat!" when the absurdly-named Patriot Act was forced through a cowering Congress six weeks after the attacks, because I understood that half of our constitutional Bill of Rights had been eliminated.

But I really didn't get it, really didn't get it that we have been taken over, by our own, for real, until the evening of Sunday, February 23, 2003, when I tripped across a picture of the Pentagon on September 11. I suddenly realized I couldn't see any wreckage or evidence of a Boeing 757.

I felt like I'd been hit by a truck. (And I actually know what that feels like, having survived my collision with an old Jeep Wagoneer's grill some years ago.)

Now, maybe speeding commercial airliners do skid into steel-reinforced granite walls at ground level and vanish into nothingness. Maybe steel-reinforced granite walls do stand intact for almost half an hour before collapsing into a squared-off, tidy heap less wide than a Boeing 757. Maybe I'm crazy for thinking that I should be able to see the airplane the announcer says he sees here: http://www.msnbc.com/news/720851.asp?cp1=1
Maybe. Maybe not.

But I instantly realized that if there's no airplane wreckage at the Pentagon, then WE HAVE BEEN TAKEN OVER BY OUR OWN. REALLY.

THUD.

Of course, since then, I've suddenly seen many more of the smoking guns that were hidden, in plain sight, this whole time. The mysterious, first-ever collapse of structural steel buildings from fire, and into dust that burned hot for three months, at that. The odd existence of two fields of wreckage of Flight 93. The inexplicable lack of air defenses and the very peculiar behavior of the commander-in-chief that morning.

I learned of the Project for a New American Century, whose authors now run the White House, which clearly spells out these people's plans to run the world, like a business.

And I thought I'd been paying attention. Nope, I was tricked, too.

Now the question is: Can we citizens save our beloved country from the criminals now running it? How?
